What about men and Osteoporosis?

I am a male, age 66. The word "osteoporosis" was never mentioned to me by any doctor when getting annual checkups. I looked fine, I was athletic, I worked out. Then I had a fracture at 64 which wasn't from a fall, and even the orthopedist (!) didn't say "hmm, that's suspicious, you should have a bone density test." Nope. Only my primary care doctor brought it up when I told him about the fracture.

I see a number of old men walking around with stooped shoulders, and I bet most of them *still* don't know they have osteoporosis. It's just "aging" as far as they are concerned.

@njx58 thank you so much for sharing your story and I am so sorry you had to fracture for this to be revealed. I worry about my husband and the other men in my life whom I care about.
