Studies show that heavy drinking increases high grade PC incidence by 20%.

I think that occasional drink for special occasions (one alcoholic drink ) will not effect progression BUT one has to be mindful of medications used for cancer treatment and possible interactions.

@surftohealth88 Thanks for sharing that. I wonder if the heavy drinking actually increases the risk of prostate cancer, or there's a common risk factor that makes people more prone to alcohol abuse and to prostate cancer? Given recent research shared by the WHO, I think the scientific community is inching closer to an actual causal relationship between medium/heavy alcohol use and various cancers.

We prostate-cancer patients have the added risk that ADT increases susceptibility to type-2 diabetes, so heavy drinking would have a serious — and proven — impact there.

But agreed, I see no issue with an occasional drink. I have a social glass of wine or cider every week or two, and I don't worry much about it (except that I know it will irritate my radiation cystitis slightly; basically, it will feel like a mild UTI a few hours afterwards).
