Found: rural breast cancer patient advisors for Mayo WE-CARE study

Thank you for your interest and those members who agreed to be advisors.

++++++

Mayo Clinic researchers are looking for 5-6 females interested in serving on an advisory board for the WE-CARE study, including breast cancer patients, breast cancer survivors, faith and community leaders, and others who work locally in their communities.

The goal of the WE-CARE study is to improve screening and clinical trial participation among women from low income and rural areas and understand the barriers to participation.

Females ages 18+ are invited to apply if you meet the following criteria:

  • Are a breast cancer patient and/or survivor.
    Live in a rural and/or low-income area
    You do not need to be a Mayo Clinic patient to participate.

WHAT would your role be?

  • Take part in 5 virtual meetings over 2 years
  • Share your perspectives on barriers and reasons for mistrust in the community
  • Help create a presentation on breast cancer-screening & awareness for a community event
  • Gather and review survivor stories
  • Guide outreach efforts to recruit people for the study

Compensation: $75 for every 1-hour virtual meeting (5 total)

Principal investigator: Pravesh Sharma, MD

@auntieoakley, the survey is not closed and we are still looking for a couple of additional candidates. Would you mind trying to submit your survey responses again. It is working for me. Let me know if you continue to have issues.
