Just wondering if any of you out there have used the ice boots and if
Hi everyone, just wondered if anybody has ever used the ice boots that they advertise on Amazon? I'm also wondering if anyone has used small doses of trazodone mixed with gabapentin for pain control of your neuropathy and your feet? If anybody has found anything that works for pain, I'd certainly be interested in hearing about it as my pain is so bad now. Every night starts at 3:00 in the afternoon and continuous till the next morning. It's impossible to sleep. I'm open to hear anything that works. Desperate, Carol

Hello Carol @cinnspice44, Sorry to hear that you are not getting much relief for the neuropathy pain in your feet.

@johnbishop thank you so much John. I'll do that. Have a joyful day. Carol
I have neuropathy in several places including my feet. Recently I tried heated house shoes from Amazon. Seems to be helping. bhappy
Hi, my neuropathy pain is throughout my whole body as I have many forms of it. I know what you mean about it starting in later afternoon when it ramps up and tortures you all night. I take gabapentin and was on a very high dose and it was causing weight gain and daytime sleepiness. So we have reduced the gabapentin and added hydroxyzine which helps with the itching and burning. I love that it helps with that deep itching that you can't scratch. It hasn't helped with the horrible lightning bolt pain I get, but the gabapentin will have to be adjusted. It is critical to realize taking gabapentin and hydroxyzine together causes major sleepiness and is why I only take the hydroxyzine at bedtime. But it is not for everyone and would need to be scrutinized by your doctor for your individual health concerns. I'm severe enough that I have a DNR and quality of life is all I care about. But I am enjoying blessed sleep.
I hope you find answers and treatment appropriate for you. God bless!
You will benefit from LDN-low dose naltrexone. For pain. I reduced my Lyrica dose from 400mg to 100mg - does nothing for numbness. Been discussed here many times.
I find some relief using ice boots, I may need to buy a freezer just for ice packs.

Hey John, no kidding. The heated house shoes help. Wish I could find a way to charge them while I’m wearing them. Actually, they stay warm for quiet some time.
Hello Carol,
I am not familiar with the treatments you mention. I’ll be very happy if you could explain it to me.🩷
But I have some of my own recommendations for you;
Never have a hot bath or shower, it brings on the pain. Have a shower about body temperature.
When your pain is bad, fill a bucket with cold water and ice or ice bags. Put your feet in until they’re nice and cool. Or have a cold shower. Yes, I know it’s not pleasant but it helps a lot.
Then I put on a cream on that has capsicum (red pepper) in on. I live in South Africa and over here we have a cream made by Anique that has capsicum in called Zero Ache which helps a lot.
These two in itself helps a lot. But I must add that I take Lyrica 600mg a day, 300 in the morning and 300 at night. Plus two antidepressants called GymGen and Dopequel. GymGen 120mg about 4 pm and Dopequel 75 mg at 10 pm. I also take a drop of cannabis oil at 6 pm. This is the only way I can live.
I also have a Neuro Stimulator in. Whe the pain is bad I set it so the pulses are higher.
I hope this will help you a bit. I had a long painful time for 20 years before I came to all of this.
Kind regards,
Sonja
@itiswhatitis I also use hydroxyzine for itching. There are times I feel as though I’m going crazy from the itching.
@lake7200 I understand. The itching from neuropathy is so intense and I have already scratched myself to bleeding. Putting ice on it can help too. Sometimes a cool shower helps me...even in the middle of the night, if I have the strength. I know people who use capsaicin cream...I cannot as it causes blood blisters on my skin, so I can't speak to it's effectiveness. Good luck
