Hi there. I had a biopsy on my bottom lip last December. The recovery wasn't so bad a few weeks of discomfort and very little pain. Try not to be scared. I was terrified, I think it is the fear of the unknown it is not as bad as you think. I then had a vermilionectomy as it was considered pre- cancerous. There's not a lot of info about it or the recovery. It was slow for me, but I have heard everyone heals at a different pace. I am almost 9 months down the track, and my lip looks good. It still feels a little numb and sensitive on the inside. I wish I had been told to begin massage early. Massage wasn't mentioned until 6 months and I was unable to smile until recently. So, if you need a vermilionectomy you will be fine, I can advise you on recovery if you like.

@nicolemary Hi, I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. Your lips are so sensitive. I ended up having to use the chemo cream on my bottom lip. It worked. It made a lot of skin come off, but I guess it got what it needed to target. I’m now doing it about every two years. In fact, I have a treatment coming up next month. I apply the Effudex cream to the lower lip twice a day for two weeks. Maybe they will try you on that before they take a biopsy. Please let me know how it goes. I’ll keep you in my prayers as a single mom with four children. I know you are worried, but they can treat it. You will be OK because you’ve gotten to it early. Prayers for you. 🙏
