Ileostomy output

What is normal output from an ileostomy?
I need to empty my pouch 6-8 times a day. In addition, I need to open an Ez-vent 2-3 times, including at least once after going to bed.

Over the years I have found six to eight times a day was the usual.
The gas problem is probably from what you are eating. Keep a record of what you eat compared to the amount of gas.

I also empty about same amount, Gas like fbt217 say is probably caused from what you are eating.

Same or more for me too. That was for about 6 months. I had a reversal at the end of April. So far it's all working right.

That's normal and I get up twice each night and empty in order not to have bag blow off.

Thanks for sharing that. I set an alarm for about 90 min after I lay down. I almost always need to vent or empty then. After that I’m usually ok for 3-4 hrs and then I wake up with out an alarm.

About 6-8 times a day seems about right.

Keep track of what you are eating and see what gives you gas. I found that I had more output and gas the first year after surgery, and gradually it decreased. I rarely get a lot of gas now, 35+ years later, but it still happens sometimes.
