First PSA 7 weeks post op
We decided to do PSA test on our own and results came today :
PSA 0.014
I am cautiously happy, but would like to hear what old-timers think about it ? Should it be ideally 0.001 ? BTW we used a Quest lab.

Excellent; congratulations!
Happy for you guys surfer and wishing you good results always!
Do get well soon and celebrate. You deserve to be happy after all that you went through. God bless!
@topf
Hi Topf - I asked my hubby right now and guess what - he mixed up lab names lol . He brought me paper with results so I can copy the code and I saw that he actually ordered PSA test in a "Labcorp" 🙃 . I told him that I have no idea what will happen if he ever needs ADT 😋 !
Test code for Labcorp is : 140731
Sorry for the mix-up 😵💫
Congratulations on Mr. Surf's great test result!! Time to celebrate the very positive data point that is so long overdue for you two.
I was on the Quest site and noticed the text below. It may or may not apply to your test result, but is what came up for uPSA minimum for accurate quantification, but doesn't change the fact that the result is a very good one:
"Clinical Significance
PSA, Post Prostatectomy - For post-prostatectomy patients.
The lower limit of accurate quantification for this assay is 0.02 ng/mL. PSA values less than 0.02 ng/mL cannot be accurately measured and will be reported as less than 0.02 ng/mL. Specimens with PSA levels below the lower limit of accurate quantification should be considered as negative. "

Totally understandable to be cautiously optimistic with this roller coaster we're all on, but this looks good so far...I had a PSA test at 6 weeks post op that came back 0.022. (Gleason 8 apparently contained) Then at 12 weeks test came back at < 0.014, which is undetectable at my lab at Yale. It has remained the same for three consecutive tests with another due in a few weeks.
Wishing your husband all the best going forward, and hope you have a happy and healthy birthday coming up!
When you say that “… decided to do PSA test on our own…” was that at the same lab that your “official” PSA tests are done? (PSA tests often vary lab-to-lab.)
@peterj116
You can use this site to order your own lab (there is a doctor who officially orders it):
https://www.jasonhealth.com/
They send the order to Quest. That is where i get mine done anyway. Quest will do the same thing btw. Just check their site. No need to have your urologist or oncologist order. Have to pay for it yourself. PSA is $15.
@smoore4 Thanks for that.
But I'm in New Zealand. We don't have anything like that down here.
@peterj116 My bad! So damn ethnocentric. I also have French citizenship and should know better. Sorry!
@surftohealth88 Thank you! 🙏
Very helpful.
