Incontinence and pain in hands?
Recently, I have started to have difficulty holding it at times, running to the bathroom (and did not make it two days ago). When I urinate (sometimes not much), I often feel pain in my hands when bearing down (sorry if TMI), which I find very odd. I have fibromyalgia and some other physical issues my rheumatologist isn't sure of the cause yet. Went to urgent care to test for UTI, which was negative and the urgent care doctor agreed the hand pain was odd.
I am going through menopause and this symptom started after an endometrial biopsy a month and a half ago, but did get better after a couple of weeks when my cervix stopped hurting, then returned. I'm not sure if I should see a urologist or go back to my gynecologist.
Has anyone ever had this symptom and if so, what kind of doctor did you see for it?

A trick to avoiding gut micro biome issues with antibiotics is to counteract with probiotics. Antibiotic's aren’t discriminatory so they kill all the bugs…good and bad!
I’ve been on long and short term antibiotics and find that eating 1/2 cup of non-fat, active culture Greek yogurt twice daily has been a life saver. (Morning and before bed) For lunch I usually supplement whatever I’m eating with an ounce or two of raw, fresh fermented sauerkraut and other pro/prebiotics. (Lots of info online)
Any probiotics should be taken at least 2 hours after or before antibiotics so the good guys aren’t killed along with the bad bugs. Might be worth a try. Let me know if it helps.
I eat lots of Greek yogurt and have a very clean diet. Unfortunately, if this is caused by a fistula as suspected, antibiotics are an absolute necessity to treat it QUICKLY. From the first hint of another UTI to pain, hematuria, and fever, can be as short as a two-hour window.
Oh my goodness, that is a short development time with the UTIs and sounds awful. I’m so sorry you’re having to deal with these recurrences.
Have you had a cystoscopy where the urethra and bladder can be examined for a fistula?
Thank you. Yes, I had a repeat ct scan last year that still revealed air in the bladder and a diagnostic cystoscopy, but the Urologist feels that the fistula may just be too small to see. I have yearly follow-ups to report on the frequency of my UTIs.
Male 76 years.
I've had same problem
I go and sit on toilet and start to pee and both hands hurt like bloody hell for about 9 seconds and it's over
Maybe mens that I take.
Lithium
Zoloft
Prostate med
I don't know and OF course the Doctors don't know.
Mystery to me

Yes! Everytime I get symptoms of a UTI even before they test me I am getting nerve pain in my right thumb and finger. What is this?
Yesterday I went to the Euro gyno and tested negative for UTI but results take 2wks here. She suggested I may have an over active bladder and sent me home with a sample. Next doc said if you bleed again go to the ER. Now I don't know what's really going on with no antibiotics and still peeing with pain in my hand, so I guess this is a wait and see.
I also experience this intense pain in my arm and hand whilst urinating during a uti.
My gp and consultant had never heard of it and dismissed it without any interest whatsoever. Made me feel bonkers!
Occasionally I have mild pain in my hands when I have an urgent need to urinate and try to hold it. Usually that resolves about the time I get to the toilet. I don't know that I ever had a UTI when I felt that hand pain. I probably had some urge incontinence some of the times, maybe more than a little. For me, that's usually when I was busy doing something and waited longer than I should have and maybe didn't realize how urgent the need was until I stood up. Maybe I drank a lot of water in a short time period. Then I had to hurry to the bathroom and the closer I got to the right place, the more my bladder kind of said "This is close enough. I am not holding it any longer!"
I'm not sure exactly when I first noticed the hand pain while trying not to pee, but I'm pretty sure it was at least by age 10, maybe my whole life.
I don't think i had exactly the same symptoms today, but I have experienced it recently enough that I was thinking about it.
(I have had almost constant mild tingling in my right hand and arm for at least 3 days, and intermittent tingling in both arms for several months. I think it's related to spinal stenosis, but i also thought I had a pinched nerve in my neck before carpal tunnel issues were diagnosed. I had both carpal tunnel surgeries last year. Now the tingling includes the pinky fingers. Before my surgeries I learned that I had congenital cervical spinal stenosis. Nerve conduction studies suggested I also had Carpal tunnel syndrome, and at the time, the tingling was mostly on the thumb side of my hands. The orthopedic surgeon said if carpal tunnel surgery helped I would know it was a carpal tunnel problem and if it didn't help, maybe we need to investigate further. The neurosurgeon who diagnosed the spinal stenosis was in no hurry to do anything because that would be a much riskier surgery and it isn't worth it unless I have much more serious symptoms. )
I asked Google about hand pain associated with urinary urgency today. One of the references for my Google AI response led me here. In my case it might be related to spinal stenosis or other nerve issues since my stenosis is congenital. I also read that stress can be a factor. I definitely have felt stress and anxiety when trying to not wet my pants, whether at age 5 or age 50 or anything in between.
Gratefully, I am not incontinent. I often have to wait a bit and focus to urinate. Too often , but not always, shooting pains in both hands while urinating. Started .. ???… 6 years ago.
I have IC but keep mostly under control with diet. Stress seems to trigger flares. My PC physician has never heard of painful hands/urination.
I have little confidence in my gyn outside of annual exams. Total hysterectomy in mid 40’s.
Also, 30 years of ME/CFS. BTW, I’m 81, mostly healthy. Any thought, comments appreciated.
I am new here and just saw this. Yes, I get hand pain when I pee. It is neurological for me. Doctors thought for awhile that I had fibro. Turned out to be a serious form of neuropathy that really affects everything including my heart. But the hand pain is really weird, isn't it. A lot of my nerve pain is weird.
