@colleenyoung I’m soon going to have my prostate removed, I’m 48 and terrified. I fear all outcomes and want to talk to people that are willing that have had issues after surgery or have the implant surgery. I only have a month before surgery.

@cpokerp
I have had My prostate removed at 62. The only real problem was the inability to get an erection.

I know many people that have had this surgery. A number of them have been able to get their nerves spared so they are able to get an erection after the surgery. This is something you should speak to your doctor about.

I had no incontinence problems after they removed the catheter. Some people have incontinence problems that last for many months. There’s just no way of knowing how it will work for you.

I actually went to a couple of client’s offices four days after surgery and worked on their computer issues. Didn’t require me to do anything, but sit in front of a computer. Eight days after surgery I went back to work full-time. Didn’t do any moving or lifting just worked on people’s computer problems. Minimal pain after the second day Tylenol was all that was needed.

None of my clients knew that I had had surgery. I had the catheter in for two weeks and would empty it in the bathroom If necessary. Had the bag for the catheter attached to my leg.

Some people take weeks to recover, At your age, you shouldn’t have any problem at all recovering within a week. Of course you don’t want to do any strenuous activities for at least a few weeks, Ask your doctor what they recommend.

@cpokerp, it's only natural to be scared. You've come to the right place to gather information and learn from the experiences of other men who have walked this path before you. Here are a couple of discussions to help you connect.

You're not alone.

@cpokerp I am 52 and 3.5 months past surgery with good nerve sparing (according to surgeon over 85% on each side). Still complete ED (which is probably still normal), incontinence is now minimal. My biggest concern is climacturia, which may or may not resolve with time.

@cpokerp And I forgot: Talk to an ED specialist and a pelvic floor physiotherapist now and start before the surgery. I eish I had done it.
