Multi vitamin without B6?

Posted by debbieod @debbieod, Aug 20 12:32pm

I have read a ton of info on this site about B 6 Pros cons and learned of the difference. Thank you for the education.
My multi vitamin has a ton of b6. I have used Shaklee for about 25 years Recently changed to Pure. Then I see its in my D+k 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am looking for a multi without any b6
I googled it 😖 first answer was the one I take
Any suggestions of a brand?

I have found exactly one multivitamin without B6, and would love to learn of others. It's Desert Harvest: https://desertharvest.com/products/multi-vitamin-low-acid-90-capsules. (Although you can find it on Amazon, it comes with a high delivery cost.) I've been taking it for a while, and will see what my next round of blood test shows. I have not found an objective, independent review of the product, nor any evidence one way or another that what's in the bottle is what's on the label, which is, of course, true of almost all supplements. Not a fan of anything that combines calcium and iron, since doing this lessens their absorption, but since I take those supplements independently, it doesn't matter to me. Be aware that whatever capsule material they use occasionally tears in the bottle -- usually only one or two capsules, but it does mean that it's worth looking closely for the torn capsules to discard them.

I use B12 injections and it seems to help.

I recommend working with your doctor and getting blood work done so you will know exactly where you stand in regard to the various vitamin B levels. I have neuropathy with no known cause. Symptoms are numbness and tingling in my feet. After my diagnosis, I noticed at various times it seemed worse. First time was caused by taking atorvastatin. Stopped that med and I was much improved (along with a bunch of other issues!). More recently my neurologist saw that my Vit. B6 level was very elevated. He had me stop taking my multivitamin and fish oil tabs which I had been on for years. My neuropathy is way better. I agree with a previous comment that taking specific supplements for your individual needs is the best way to go. This way if you notice changes in your health it is easier to pinpoint the source.

May I ask which multivitamin and fish oil you were taking? I am taking both and I’m in so much pain. I have Kirkland brand for both.

@sunrise11 there is a vitamin called B6T Smart without B6 because B6 is toxic at high levels & we usually get enough B6 from food.

I took the Walgreens generic brand for senior women for years. Fish Oil was something I got at Walgreens but I don't remember the brand. The main thing is the B6 in the vitamin and not so much the brand (according to my neurologist). Also, I have neuropathy in my feet - numbness and tingling only. Have your blood work done before you make any decisions.

B6 is a needed Supplement...but too much can cause the problem your trying to address..
So testing is a wise solution to see where your at on your "B's"
