Has anyone experienced back pain with Tymlos?
I have started Tymlos recently. So far I am only doing 3 clicks. I know doctors and the Tymlos folks do not want us do that. Also the injections are to be given only in the stomach. There are other sites for subq injections. Tymlos and doctor say only inject into stomach.
Regarding the clicks, I plan to slowly titrate to full dose. My decision. I know a lot of people are doing this.
The main question I posted was back pain. Has anyone experienced that with Tymlos? Thanks

Thanks. I will keep in touch. It is hard making the decision to go on medication. At least for me it was. When you think you are doing all the right thing regarding exercise and diet...then you get the Osteoporosis diagnosis. I thought "what do you mean? it can't be . It really sucks finding out your bones are fragile. Just Know there is a lot of help out there. This support group on Mayo is very informative. I wish you well.
@loriesco I am a retired RN. Tymlos does Not recommend titrating the drug, but that is what I am doing. Tymlos only said stomach for injections. I agree, there are several SQ sites.
I think it depends on the information the Doc tells you. Plus call Tymlos.
Maybe they say stomach only because the medication absorbs better
@harryboy7 1) I called the manufacturer. Did you?
I read the instructions included in the box
3) all of which was then coordinated with my endocrine/infusion dept.
so I’m not sure what you are talking about.
Correct that the manufacturer doesn’t recommend titrations at the start but if one doesn’t tolerate the med they have no objections.
@harryboy7 everything need to know is right here: https://www.tymlos.com/taking-tymlos/
@loriesco I called Tymlos. Injection only in stomach. No titration.
I had a long conversation with my Endocrinologist and his clinical pharm. No titration, shot in stomach.
@harryboy7 I know the site well. I looked again. I even read the insert of the drug. Injections in stomach. Yes, its SubQ and there are different sites to do that. Tmylos and Endo say only in stomach. SubQ better absorption.
@harryboy7
Maybe they are pushing the abdomen as the average woman weighs 167 lb, making it easier to find a spot to inject there.
@maymore hello. I just started taking Tymlos 5 days ago. On the very first day that I took it, I had that exact same spasm in my lower back. I do have degenerative disc disease of the lumbar/sacral area (wear and tear of the spine from aging). I am 61. But that pain was real. It subsided in 30 mins or so. And also got better in the next few times. I told my Endocrinologist about it and his response was that he had never heard of this reaction from his other patients. Glad to know I was not just imagining it.
I plan on continuing with the med.
@loriesco, I love the strength of your replies. This may be about Harry's Thighs. I wanted to make this a new post with that title.
Do you know who you are talking to when you call the manufacturer's help line. They aren't exactly experts.
So, in the thigh the drug is more slowly absorbed. The pth medications are rapidly absorbed anyway. The area around the stomach has more fat and that fat has attendant blood vessels.
This can make a difference with a drug like insulin unless it is the slow release version.
I don't think it matters with Tymlos. The endocrinologist I see says it makes no difference.
But imagine Harry without an ounce of fat on tight muscular thighs. Hard to even pinch the skin into an injectable lump.
Harry's package insert may only offer the area around the naval as an injection site.
(Don't forget that you are in California)
I have. But it was only for the first 2-3 days and now it’s better. I’ve only started taking Tymlos for 5 days.
