I too am recovering from fractured ankle surgery (3 months out and 1 month after cast removal). My surgeon fixed the tubular & fibula with a plate and several screws. Your journeys have been so impactful as you recover. I am trying to become stable on one crutch, but the pain in my foot prevents me from walking fluidly. I am working with a PT and have made slow progress. I am wondering if anyone has also seen a chiropractor for help with pain. Can a chiropractor help if there is hardware in the ankle?

@leadw33 A bad ankle fracture takes a really long tome to heal and regain strength. I think your PT is the best to advise your progress. There is a lot of pain generated by the ankle and I don't know what a chiropractor could do with that. It will take lots of time. It took about 4 years until my ankle felt strong again. I had my hardware plates removed at a year and a half after the original surgery so there was healing from that. Eventually, I needed to stretch the scar tissue to resolve pain, but that was after months of healing. Starting weight bearing after months of no weight bearing just hurts and your leg is weak because of non-use. Progress is always slower than you wish.
