Recovery Lumbar3-Lumbar5 Laminectomy and Fusion w/ Instrumentation
I am Lois, 76 yr. and this surgery is my last resort after 4 injections (PT, etc.) over a few years, that only lasted about 6 weeks each. I have total trust in my surgeon as he did a discectomy for screaming pain in my right leg in April 2025 and told me it would not solve other problems, but that was so terrible that I had no idea what was underneath. Now I know and it will hopefully be better, though the time factor for recovery is long. I had the same restrictions BLT for the first surgery and it was totally successful.
I have been following the spinal fusion group for about a month based on my surgery which will be October 1. It is a Lumbar3-Lumbar5 Laminectomy and Fusion w/ Instrumentation.
I am very grateful for all of you being so honest, clear and open about what you are experiencing as well as the support and advice you give. I have learned a lot and think I am prepared, though I am admittedly scared about the recovery (mostly concerned about pain). I have family/friends staying with me for the first month, so I will be a bit of a princess as I will be taken care of as needed given that I eventually need to get back to a single life of doing all for myself.
Appreciatively, Lois

Thank you so much. I have never been apart of a support group and it’s value is obvious.
My surgery is Wednesday and I am so grateful for all who have shared their experiences and suggestions as to how to get through the early recovery. It means a lot to have you all out there helping.
