I have recently been diagnosed with OP, i am 66 and in very good health, they want to put me on Tymlos. I have never taken any thing other than pain meds for a short time after surgery! My question is what is your plan for afterwards do you move to a maintaince drug or can you do Diet and exercise. All the doctors want to do is perscribe another drug.

@chrisdietrich I will be finishing up two years of Tymlos in March. After that, the plan is to take alendronate (Fosamax) for one year to preserve gains. Then we take a medication break, with annual DEXA scans to monitor. I've been doing nutrition and exercise all the while.

For people who still need further bone building after Tymlos, Evenity for a year is one possibility.

FYI, I started this journey at -3.3, and this past January I was up to -2.0 (osteopenia.) It's probably even better now.

I wish we could say "take this for two years and then you're good to go", but that isn't the reality. 🙁 Unfortunately, if your bone loss is severe (-3.3, say), diet and exercise aren't going to be enough.
