My TKR will be done late this year. I have started pre-op PT, 20 visits so far with some work at home and I am a huge fan! It is certainly challenging, exhausting and sometimes tearful. But I am so much stronger than before. All the positive effects of H A injections are gone and I do have consistent pain. I can now walk faster, up/down from a chair is easier and I can climb stairs like an adult. Previously I could only climb stairs "toddler style" one step at a time. I don't know how this PT will impact post op, but for now my life is greatly improved. I encourage you to give pre-op PT a try and best wishes for your healthy new knee!

@tkrfuture
Your pre pt will help post op because your muscles that are needed for getting better will be strong. I was 0degrees extension and 64 degrees flexion one day post op with my physical therapist who had me in that soon. Overall compared to my RTS I recuperated quickly. I was walking and driving on my own 10 days post op and felt ready to end pt by 4 months and was released from pt by 5 1/2 months with a lifetime exercise regimen that I continue to do 4 years later. To date my knee is awesome!
