My TRIMIX experience
I've been using Trimix for about six months with outstanding results. It did take some experimentation to figure out the best way to make it work for me. With hopes that it may help others, here's what I discovered using this medication: (BTW, I'm 71, one year post SBRT and 4 months Orgovyx)
- I have had to use the oral antidote several times (works well) in the early dose experimentation days for super hard erections lasting more than three hours (4tablets of 30 mg pseudoephedrine. Don't make the mistake of buying the extended release pseudoephedrine tabs). Make sure you have this on hand before you start this medication!
- I had to find the sweet spot for the injection site and depth. For me turns out to be the 10 and 2 o'clock position with the 1/2" needle almost fully inserted around mid-shaft.
- Shelf life on the Trimix in the refrigerator is limited. I can definitely see a difference in the results at the 3-4 week period. For me, it became pretty useless after 4 weeks, even at a higher dose. To help extend the life, I now fill all syringes with the needed dose as soon as I get the medication and immediately place all syringes into the freezer until needed. Now, I take a syringe out about 30 min before needed and it's ready to go. This is working well and my pharmacist said this should extend the shelf-life to 6 months or more.
- After injecting, massage the entire penis and base to help distribute the medication throughout the muscle structure. This will help significantly.
- Stand for the first 5-10 minutes after injection as gravity aids in the blood flow into the penis.
This medication has been a lifesaver for me. I was afraid I'd never see a useful erection again. Now, I'm back to 18 in that regard-- actually better than 18 as my erection stays hard even after an orgasm! Best of luck guys! Be aware that your partner may hide your medication if you use it to often. (-:

You guys are all off to a good start. However, watch for scar tissue development. I used Trimix for several years and didn't realize what was happening. I thought it was a problem with the needle!
I have to admit I'm confused about some of the medical advice I'm reading about in this thread. The only way I was offered Trimix injections was if I had a penile Color Doppler Ultrasound first. Since that test involved an injection to cause an erection, I already knew what the needle felt like. Yet many of you writing here act as if the needle is an unknown. Didn't you have the Doppler Ultrasound done?
@jgrisham im only using the 5ml amount the very first reading on the syringe, didnt take much to get rock hard and stay that way for over 2 hours.

1 Reaction@tomf Never heard of that.
@tomf
I think you will find that very few people did have ultrasound.
I suspect the reason is that most of the people that have had bimix or Trimix are doing it relatively shortly after they’ve had surgery, so their penis had not been allowed to deteriorate much yet. Most people also have used a penis pump and Cialis or Viagra.

2 ReactionsI had my first Trimix appointment yesterday and it went really well. Good news, I did not have to inject at the office!!!! I answered a few questions, read through a short pamphlet about the injections, and the nurse walked me through everything, including how to inject and how to store the vials.
She told me to start at 5 ml at home and see what happens. Since I lost one set of nerves after my prostate surgery in January, she said not to expect a full erection with that small of a dose. The plan is to start low and increase slowly. I’ll begin with 5 ml, and if nothing happens, I’ll go up to 10 ml next time and keep adjusting until I notice some response. Once I finish the small trial vial, which has enough for three shots, I’ll check back in with her to report what happened. Once I find the ideal dose that produces an erection for no more than an hour, she will set me up with prescription service which will be handled through MenMD.
Tonight will be my first test, and I can't wait. The vacuum pump has been working for me, but it’s just not the same. When you use those tension rings, it's like your erection is attached to a swivel joint! ugh!

2 ReactionsI really appreciate your detailed explanation. The Sudafed recommendation came in handy. Unfortunately, I am one of those patients who reacts poorly to Trimix, with the prostaglandin/alprostadil ingredient causing significant pain during the erection and eliminating the pleasure of intercourse. I have asked my oncologist for a Bimix prescription to try, leaving out that chemical but also likely reducing the effectiveness. I'd rather not do without sex the entire two years I'm on Orgovyx and beyond that to recovery.

1 Reaction@jime51 Don't give up yet. I think you still have a good chance of Bimix working for you with some trial and error. Just need to find the right dose. Good luck! Have you been using the VED with any luck?

2 Reactions@tj1967 Thanks! Using the VED with the shot wasn't part of my original instructions but the ED specialist mentioned it when I expressed my frustrations with Trimix. I guess I need to go shopping.
@jime51 I’ve got a lot of experience with VEDs because I refused to give up on having a sex life after surgery, and it took forever to finally get my Trimix appointment. I actually use two different VEDs for different reasons. One is mainly for daily rehab, and the other is for sex.
The Soma Therapy (see link below) works great for daily blood flow exercises. I don’t bother with the tension bands because they break after a few uses and cost too much to replace. Instead, I just use it to pull blood into my penis, hold it for a few minutes, release, and repeat for about 10 to 15 minutes a day. It’s basically a workout to keep blood moving and the tissue healthy.
The Vacurect (see link below) is the one I use before sex. It’s really easy to use and holds the erection better than the Soma Therapy. The only tricky part is removing the tension band afterward. The best way I’ve found is to gently squeeze your penis to push blood out of it while stretching the band. It takes a minute or two, but it works.
I’m starting Trimix tonight and hoping I don’t get any burning. I’ll still keep using both VEDs between injections and for daily rehab. Maybe it’s overkill, but sex is important to me and my wife, and I’m doing everything I can to make sure things keep working.
