Who has been on lupron for a long time, and/ or firmagon?
My husband had his last round of Chemo today for stage 4 PC and again the doctor is trying to push him to switch from Firmagon to Lupron.
My husband has different reasons for not switching but one main one is the higher risk of heart attack or heart problems?
He's at the point of not caring about going up once a month to get the injection and hurting for a day or two after.

@jimgaudette I was on Lupron for three years. I am now off for one year. My PSA has been < .1 for four years. If it goes up, I will be happy to go back on Lupron or an alternative.
Totally agree!
We travel to Mayo Rochester monthly for my father's monthly Lupron injection. We've been doing this for ten years! He started on Firmagon but he had such issues with injection site pain he was switched to Lupron. We chose to do monthly injections along with a monthly PSA test. He's had recurrences thru the years, but Mayo has treated them with a few different courses of radiation and now with Pluvicto, all while continuing the Lupron. Wishing you all the best!
@abcsoup
Wouldn’t it make more sense to get a three month Lupron shot and get your blood test done locally. That information could easily be sent to Mayo.
I got six month Lupron shots for six years, Going in every six months was quite convenient, even though it was in the same city.

@jeffmarc We like to go to Rochester and have it run by the same lab each time and we aren't that far away so it's not a big deal for us. This is just how we choose to do his labs and injections and it works for us.
