Blood in urine bright red . What could it be?

It can be caused by multiple conditions, such as UTI( urinary tract infection) or kidney stones. It can be due to some medications, like blood thinners, or certain painkillers.
Whatever it is, you need to see your doctor. It is not something that will go away on its own, and it is better to treat it earlier than later. They will advise you to take a urine sample for analysis, and that way determine what the problem is.

Might need a sonogram or CT scan after blood workup.

My husband had blood in his urine. His PCP ordered an ultrasound of his kidneys and a urinalysis. Both came back negative. His doctor said the most likely cause is bladder cancer. Initially the first appointment he could get for a cytoscopy was in December 2025. We tried a different hospital and now he has an appointment for 10/22. Anyone else dealing with bladder cancer?

Blood in urine scared me, went to see doctor and set me up to have a CT Scan which ended up being a tumor. Had tumor taken out and now just waiting for Mayo Clinic visit next week. Hopefully caught this early enough for best out come. I'm only 55 and need to see my family grow up together ❤️

@nativedym Have you had a cystoscopy? My tumor didn't show up on CT scan with contrast. I had red blood, too. Thought it was a uterine issue. Turned out to be non-invasive bladder cancer.

@wifey9 same here. Two tumors in the bladder. Stage 1 cancer.
