@gravity3 Yes, XLGB is a Chinese patent medicine that is used to treat OP, and has been approved by the (Chinese) State and Drug Administration. According to what I’ve read it’s used in many countries as the primary treatment for OP, and has been proven to be effective. However, each paper appears to be a meta analysis and points out the need for good clinical trials. I do know that there are some reports of possible liver damage as one of the side effects.
My endocrinologist does not agree with my decision, but as he put it “We’ll see.” I started the XLGB capsule about 5 weeks ago. I feel that the side effects of western treatment are far more probable.
Today, I had a previously scheduled appointment with my hematologist. I mentioned that I had started TCM, and immediately he went to a Chinese medical website, and checked that XLGB would not interact with any of my other medications. He did point out that a side effect is possible liver damage and that it is recommended to have liver functions tested. Since I have blood work done every few months, it’s not an issue. He never heard of this treatment and found it interesting. I asked him if he thought it was safe for me to go this route, and he said to give it a try. Today’s blood work was good. I’ll keep you informed.
