I think (please correct me if I’m wrong) that 5% of pain patients misuse their dry for recreational purposes. That seems like a low number and one that supports pain meds for those that need it

Not even that many. Last year a pain clinic in Mi. Dumped 20k pain patients and closed their doors. No one is keeping track of how many have died. Many, many have.
