I am terrified of hospitals after last year. Two hospitalizations and about 5 trips to the ER in the middle of the pandemic BUT I had no choice and it saved my life. I took good care of myself by wearing a mask ALL the time..... Even to sleep but it was worth it and I might not be 100% yet but I think I'm getting there slowly.
I am 5 months past hemicolectomy and still have some pain and discomfort at times. I think a trip to the ER is necessary and definitely a CAT scan to see what is going on. He probably has an infection and he probably needs antibiotics and pain medication. Try not to wait longer, I had a perforation back in August and it was a dangerous situation to be in.
