Scoliosis and car seats

Posted by tillymack @tillymack, Sep 15 4:21am

I have both moderate scoliosis and moderate osteopenia. I'm currently in the market for a new car which offers good seat support. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with back issues who has looked into car models which offer various seat adjustments to maintain a comfortable and healthy body position while driving. Thank you!

@tillymack: Seats are more important as we age and have back issues. We bought a 2025 Toyota Crown that has heated, all position seats that are great. Good Luck!

You might take a look at a Subaru Forester. I find it's many seat adjustments very helpful and comfortable. Unfortunately on my 2020 year model, the passenger seat doesn't have the myriad adjustments that are on the driver's seat. Good luck

My Mazda6 is comfortable with a number of seat adjustments. However, I rely on my own cushions to get the position "just right." I use a Tush-Cush car cushion for the bottom, and a lumbar support behind me.

Thanks for your reply! Could you let me know the brand of lumbar support?

we drive a 2025 hybrid Toyota Camry, and were tempted to trade the car in, as traveling long-distance was unbearable for my lower spine, and like you, I have scoliosis and osteopenia.
I bought two Sketcher seats cushions for both front seats, and it has made a big difference for my husband and I driving long trips.

Thanks! I'll see if I can find them on Amazon!
