Power of Positive Thinking

I am not the one who had to suffer from this disease, but my Mom did It is almost 25 years ago when mom had her Colon Cancer surgery. It was 18 months later (06/2002) when she had to undergo surgery because the she had been diagnosed with liver metastases from colorectal cancer. It wasn’t expected that she would survive from it.
If you look at all the evidence, she would be expected to die because she chose not to undergo radiation or chemotherapy. 😳
The prognosis was not great, but she came out of the ICU and recovered! Never the same as before the surgery(s), she carried on taking her daily synthoid pill, but no other medications. She has survived without ANY medication of any kind. For 24yrs,10mos my mom has been looking at each day with a positive outlook and tries to enjoy the small things
She is literally a textbook miracle!
Literally every day she is still around is a blessing and a miracle! If I could get this acknowledged in some way, it would be so amazing
She is one tough cookie, that’s for sure. But I wanted you all to know that with a positive outlook and happy thoughts each day, you CAN make it through this!
Hang tough people!!

Good thoughts affect health a LOT !! Often dismissed due to difficulty in measuring them, they matter and help us surmount some really tough stuff. Love being the most powerful of emotions- it comes in so many forms, and those who look for it are rewarded….maybe, or maybe not cured, but what a difference !!

Now going on my fourth year of stage 4 colon cancer I couldn’t agree more.

What a truly wonderful outcome for your mom, family and friends that surgery turned out to be enough coupled with a positive mindset. Limiting stress is so important and it’s so hard to push out the fear and negative thoughts.

My much loved mom and grandmom was diagnosed in her 60’s with stage 4 small cell lung cancer going on 20 years ago. It was too widespread (including to her brain) to be treated with surgery, so she started on radiation before hopefully moving to chemo and then surgery.

Mom was amazingly tough and we were all so very hopeful. Unfortunately she passed less than a month after diagnosis. I am stage 4 appendix cancer - which is grouped in with Colorectal Cancer. I am in remission (with no evidence of disease) after 2 major surgeries (including HIPEC) as well as Folfiri and Avastin infusions. I am now 3 years in remission, 4 years from diagnosis, and have outlived the average prognosis for my type of cancer and situation.

I have had a really good attitude throughout (like my mom - she’s been my inspiration) but do these days have periods of fear and uncertainty as my blood marker numbers move. Really doing my best to dig in and live in the now with positivity.

Thank you for sharing ❤️‍🩹
