Hi everyone, I’ve had 2 colon resection surgeries recently, one in 2016, the other in 2017 after a routine colonoscopy detected carcinoid tumors (one each year) in the terminal ileum area of small intestine. Surgeries and recoveries went smoothly but after several months I had sharp pains off and on, in same area.
My doctor says the scar tissue can cause pain. Also, hernias can develop easily after surgeries. I have one in the navel button area and it hurts sometimes, especially if pant waistbands are snug. I had laperascopic surgery, but the cut in navel area is a tad larger than the other 2 smaller incisions. I believe having incisions in that same spot weakened it and it herniated. So, repeated incisions and scarring could be causing your pain...I would follow up.
I hope that helped, Good Luck!
Josie

Hello. I came across this chat while researching for my husband. Had colon resection and removal of extensive adhesions. It has been 6 months and constipation is constant along with cramps and sharp pain. Have you received any news or feedback on your pain? Thank you.

I had colon resection(sigmoid) 5 weeks ago and today out of nowhere my left side next to bellybutton is sharp pain. There is no bulging... I was concerned about hernia. I did have a bout of diarrhea this morning. Also a lot of pressure in rectum when I sit down. I’m so scared and discouraged. Also I’m new here and don’t know how to start my own new message

Same here!

This is the worst surgery and I regret having it done. After 3months iam still dealing with problems. Newest problem I can't eat. Does anyone else have this problem
