Evinity & Reclast resukt work for anyone?
I just finished the Evinity and Reclast. Today I received a message from my Dr. and there is absolutely no change according to my DEXA. 12 months of Evinity and the Reclast did absolutely nothing. My doctor had gone thru the same and she had good results she said. Both my calcium and Vitamin D levels have been good. It only cost $30,000 for zero results. I broke my arm when I was 7 and then 50 when I had a small fracture from fall on ice on the same arm. Disapointment. I couldn't tolerate the pill form, either. Anyone have this issue?

I just completed my 12th Evenity injection, and today my bone scan results indicated I had increased BMD by 17% in my spine. I went from total spine T-score: -3.2 ( -4, -3.3, -2.6 and a compression fracture @ L4) to -2.2 in 12 months.
As of now I am scheduled to have a Reclast infusion next month to preserve my gains. I reviewed the side effects and have concerns, but the thought of losing any gains is worrisome. I never want to experience another fracture of my spine as it has been a difficult recovery.

3 Reactionsrosemaryhow, it's a sign of intelligence--not wanting the last years of your life miserable.
The best time to quit Prolia is after one injection, because Prolia is the only osteoporosis medication that will leave you worse off than if you'd never taken it, unless you follow it with another medication.
You may escape unharmed, but I hope you consider a transition medication, maybe a low dose infusion of zoledronic acid.
Anyway you have until December to consider. You might tell your endocrinologist not, so they can advise an exit plan.

1 ReactionThat’s terrible!! You am so sorry. That will probably happen to me too.
I have taken 4 injections of Prolia over two years. My recent Dexa scan showed great improvement now at -1.2. I’m 79 yrs old. My mom had osteoporosis and tried fosomax and hated it, refused to take it. One day she fell, broke several vertebrae at age 94. She died 4 weeks later. I cared for her and saw how much she suffered during those weeks. At age 77, I had an X-ray that showed two compression fractures. My GP at the time insisted I start Prolia, saying oral meds would not be strong enough. I consulted with an orthopedic dr who treats osteoporosis patients and he said Prolia was a good choice for me. I have had zero side effects.
I watched osteoporosis seminars on youtube and read posts here for several months. Women’s fear of osteoporosis medications is prevalent in these threads. Please don’t let that take up too much space in your head and stop enjoying the years you have left.
I went for a consultation this week with an endocrinologist who treats osteoporosis patients.
She thought the results of two years on Prolia had outstanding results. We discussed options if I quit Prolia. Evinity is not viable because I have Afib and a stroke 18 months ago. Fortunately, quickly recovered.
The only option at this time would be Reclast. She spent 45 minutes with me, reviewing the most recent studies. Both Prolia and Reclast may cause side effects or osteonecrosis. She suggested Reclast as an option with the plus side after 2-3 treatments, might not need any more medications. That is not a guarantee.
I asked if patients complain about side effects of osteoporosis medications, She said she thinks she has heard every concern imaginable. My take at age 79 perhaps there are issues that actually have nothing to do with the osteoporosis drug prescribed. It might be genetics (hair thinning as we age), osteoarthritis, poor dental care, other medications, or overdoing social media.
I showed her my bone supplement and she thought it was one of the very good ones, recommended I add balance exercises to my daily regimen.
I asked about dental care, that some dentists don’t like to treat patients who are taking some osteoporosis meds. She said there are new protocols for dentistry care with osteoporosis meds and if an endodontist or dentist wasn’t up to date, find another dentist. To maintain as good dental health as possible I have my teeth cleaned three times a year, floss, use a water pik, Listerine, finalizing with a prescription fluoride toothpaste at bedtime.
There continues to be new studies, research, potential new medications, For now, I’ve decided to stay with Prolia and booked a cruise.

4 ReactionsWe need good luck stories and hope to get photos from the cruise.
It isn't just space in these threads or space in our heads. Some have terrible reactions to these drugs. Your favorite, Prolia, has resulted in atypical fractures, osteonecrosis, cascade fractures, hospitalizations. My favorite, Forteo, has resulted in headaches, nausea, bone pain, hypercalcemia for some. We've been lucky. I wish everyone would have this luck.
Has anyone experienced severe joint pain with severe tendonitis with Evenity.
I have been getting my injections in my thigh. Next injection I can have both done in one arm 2 inches apart according to the drug manufacturer.
The tendonitis is extremely painful. It is in the same leg as the injection location.
I have severe joint pain from evenity. I have had 5 months of shots. Joint pain is worse week 2 feels like a vise grip on my knees. Ankles hurt at times. It isn’t constant, but has woken me up.
I’ve been getting shots in abdomen. Bruising was severe once. Hopeful that the scan will show this is all worthwhile.
Luckily my doc does a modest scan so I’ll know in Dec or early Jan.
I had Zero problems with Evinity (only the injection sites, which was normal.) Reclast, again, no sideeffects. I may have spoken to soon on the outcome as I did not gain anything but I didn't lose anything, either. Old scan compared to new scan and zero change in either. I don't know if thats a good or bad sign. I did read it was a good sign, though.

1 ReactionI was under the impression the shots were to be in each arm, if you prefer that over thigh. I never had any thing bad, and if there was, it was to mild to consider. Sorry you had such a bad time. I was hopeful it would work and I would find that the bones are reproducing. You might want to contact your doctor.
