Evinity & Reclast resukt work for anyone?
I just finished the Evinity and Reclast. Today I received a message from my Dr. and there is absolutely no change according to my DEXA. 12 months of Evinity and the Reclast did absolutely nothing. My doctor had gone thru the same and she had good results she said. Both my calcium and Vitamin D levels have been good. It only cost $30,000 for zero results. I broke my arm when I was 7 and then 50 when I had a small fracture from fall on ice on the same arm. Disapointment. I couldn't tolerate the pill form, either. Anyone have this issue?

frant, I've heard of each of these medications failing to achieve dexa results. You may, though, have some long lasting fracture risk reduction from the Reclast. Did you have 12 months of Evenity followed by a single infusion of Reclast. Bone marker CTX and P1NP can give you advanced warning about whether the medications are working. I wish they were more widely used by our physicians.
Have you been tested for secondary causes of osteoporosis.
You could try Forteo or Tymlos, but not without bone markers. You might ask for the serum tests now and after one or two months of Forteo or Tymlos.
Your other choice would be Prolia, but hesitate before considering Prolia.
Hey, welcome to connect.

4 ReactionsI have discovered that (unfortunately) meds do not work sometimes. I wrongly assumed that by taking powerful osteo meds with possible debilitating side effects I would be getting my bone health back. Not necessarily true; doc never indicated that drugs may not give expected results. Did Fosamax for 8 months; 4-month break of any drugs due to holding back on the Reclast prescription because of fear of side effects, Reclast done in July. Handled it well but...if no change I sure can't see taking it ever again - the worry and anxiety that went into that decision was a bit over the top! My doc does not do any testing for a year; he did a CTX and NTX at my request before Reclast but I am not scheduled for any testing until July 2026. My CTX was very low (52) but that did not influence any decision medically regarding Reclast.

1 ReactionI am a 77yr old woman who had reclast given to me about 15yrs ago because my bone density scan showed osteopenia and it seems to run in my family. Now I am told that my scans and MRI's show that my bones are all disintegrating. I was talked into taking Allindronate and did so for 2mo. But it made me so sick, that I quit it. Then restarted it and the same thing. So then I was offered Prolia and am now into my 4th month and due again in Dec. I have not only been very nauseated, but have all written side effects, too many to mention, and I have decided that I do not want my last years in life to be this miserable. I had been told that these drugs are tough to take - thought I was tough , I guess not.

6 ReactionsDid you take Reclast infusions ? If so, how often?
I am going to start Reclast annual infusion when I am done with Evenity.
My doctor said it will only maintain bone, not build it as supposedly Evenity does

2 ReactionsI am in the same situation, I took Evenity for one year and will start Reclast as soon as I finish my dental work. Annual injections for two years, then DEXA scan and determine what course of action to take next. Evenity has increased my bone density, and I am now osteopenia instead of osteoporosis. I don’t want to lose my gains.
Any thoughts?

3 ReactionsI took Evenity injections for one year, and my DEXA scan improved. I still have Osteoporosis, but not as bad. The Prolia was recommended for a year. Two injections every 6 months. Shortly after my first two injections, I developed a severe rash and itching. It's been three months, and I still have the rash and itching. The only thing that can be done for it is antihistamines, which aren't helping very much, if at all. I've tried every topical solution that I know of, plus Decadron for a month, with no noticeable difference. The doctor wants me to have Reclast next when my next Prolia is due in January. I don't think I will do any other injections because I've had such a bad side effect with Prolia. I will opt for an oral medication that I can stop at any time if I react. I know that my doctor will not be pleased with this decision, but it's my body, and it's been very difficult living with this itching. It's on my head, back, chest, and arms, and sometimes on my legs.

7 ReactionsIt sounds like you have had good results.
What does your doctor advise?
I have read that oral medication can sustain the osteopenia although with weight bearing exercise and walking.
You probably should take a reclast infusions first though to help maintain the Evenity gains

1 ReactionI will take the Reclast injections, and try to do the exercises. I have spinal stenosis and pinched nerves in my neck and lumbar spine. My neurosurgeon recommended I try to get my osteoporosis under control before having fusions. So guess I need to see him again now.
I just read a very similar post as yours on Inspire.com...the poster was describing the rash. One of the commentors gave the name of it along w/some links to research. Perhaps it was you--I don't know, but there were several responses to the issue. This was a very recent post.
I'm in the process of taking Evenity, but plan to take Strontium Citrate instead of any of these other drugs when the year is over.
