I am a 77yr old woman who had reclast given to me about 15yrs ago because my bone density scan showed osteopenia and it seems to run in my family. Now I am told that my scans and MRI's show that my bones are all disintegrating. I was talked into taking Allindronate and did so for 2mo. But it made me so sick, that I quit it. Then restarted it and the same thing. So then I was offered Prolia and am now into my 4th month and due again in Dec. I have not only been very nauseated, but have all written side effects, too many to mention, and I have decided that I do not want my last years in life to be this miserable. I had been told that these drugs are tough to take - thought I was tough , I guess not.

rosemaryhow, it's a sign of intelligence--not wanting the last years of your life miserable.

The best time to quit Prolia is after one injection, because Prolia is the only osteoporosis medication that will leave you worse off than if you'd never taken it, unless you follow it with another medication.
You may escape unharmed, but I hope you consider a transition medication, maybe a low dose infusion of zoledronic acid.
Anyway you have until December to consider. You might tell your endocrinologist not, so they can advise an exit plan.
