Unless I missed it .......Dr. Honda did not talk about disinfecting by boiling water to a high temperature. Do you recall if she did.?
For myself I wash the Neb cup and mouth piece in unscented detergent and then disinfect in high temperature boiling water for five minutes. The boiling water is cold tap water boiled for ten minutes before I place the items in the glass pot. Yes, glass pot...found it at a garage sale. Love it. Mom, many years ago had a glass coffee percolator. The good old days with well made products that last more than '10 seconds," so to speak.
I also soak it in the vinegar and water combination due to hoping it will clear any salt or calcium build up in the cup etc. I dry all on paper towels above and below the pieces. That's my method with fingers crossed with that method and staying out of 'harms way' in other aspects that we try to be careful with.

I don't remember, I should listen to that part again. Your method should kill NTM. 1/week, I boil pieces in distilled water for 10 minutes, but daily I soak in Dawn, rinse and microwave in a micro-steam bag. The biggest take away for me, was that for MAC washing and disinfecting-use anti-microbial dawn and soak for 30 minutes. Kills MAC (or at least significantly reduces it.). 5% Vinegar and 70% ethanol both were good for MAB and MAC. I also let dry on paper towels and cover with paper towels.

I think I will add a 5% white vinegar soak 1/week. That will keep everything scale free and disinfect at the same time. I like the glass pot! I just ordered silicon matts (got that idea from Sue) to put in pan before boiling. I need a better pan and colander. Also, in the future, I will be buying anti-microbial Dawn.
