I am 5-days out from total hip replacement. As I am a veteran surgery patient (2 foot, spinal fusion, disc implant, 3 knee, carpel tunnel, shoulder repair, and other non-skeletal), I have an honest expectation of pain. But this one is happening in the 5th day with little to no pain before. Surprising. Has anyone else had this experience: pain delayed till the 5th day or later?

Rejoice, but be wary that as you increase activity, pain may reappear.
As a "veteran" of 5 hip replacements and 10 other ortho surgeries, the path is unpredictable. As your activity increases, keep the ice machine or ice packs andpain relievers handy.
As your activity level and PT increase, there might be pain.
