@bocabuckeye I'm really sorry to hear that you're going through this. I've been through something similar in the past year. In November 2024, my gynecologist attempted a D&C, but wasn’t able to complete the procedure. Then, in April 2025, she tried to perform a hysterectomy, but again, she couldn't get in. She referred me to a gynecological oncologist since he had more advanced surgical expertise. I finally had a hysterectomy in July, and the results came back with Stage 1a, Grade 1 cancer. Interestingly, my surgeons did not suspect cancer at all. For the last five years, I had been experiencing heavy bleeding and pelvic pain. I hope you find the answers you’re looking for soon. Best wishes

Heather, I’m sorry to hear that you’ve been through similar experiences. I’m curious, what prevented your initial D&C from being completed?
My bleeding is not heavy, it’s spotty, the pelvic pain is constant but the levels of pain differ. Other symptoms pop up and I wonder if they are related, I guess time will tell. Thank you for sharing your story. I wish you all the best.

@heather2025 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Thank you for sharing what you went through tryig to get a biopsy and a hysterectomy until you were referred to a gynecological oncologist with the expertise you needed. Heavy bleeding and pelvic pain for 5 years prior to the hysterectomy? That's just awful - how are you feeling now? Do you need additional treatment?
