Hi Solidrock ,
I am so sorry that you have to deal with diarrhea on top of everything 🥺. I Googled for some answers and posted it here. I hope this info will be of some help 🌺🍀🍀🍀.
Dietary Adjustments
Adopt a low-fiber diet: by choosing foods like white bread, white rice, noodles, and potatoes without skins.
Include easy-to-digest proteins: such as eggs, chicken, tofu, or fish.
Incorporate specific low-fiber vegetables: such as asparagus, mushrooms, squash, and carrots without skins.
Avoid fatty foods, greasy foods, caffeine, and excessive amounts of dairy products, which can worsen loose stools.
Eat smaller, more frequent meals: (five to six times a day) instead of three large meals.
Fluid Intake and Electrolytes
Drink plenty of non-caffeinated fluids: throughout the day to stay hydrated and replace lost electrolytes.
Good choices include water, clear broths, and diluted fruit juices, or beverages like Gatorade or Powerade.
Skin Care
Clean the anal area gently: with baby wipes or moist toilet paper to reduce irritation.
Apply a water-repellent ointment, such as one containing petroleum jelly, to protect the skin after cleaning.
Thank you so much for your response. That takes a lot of self discipline; but is worth it. I know the chemo probably has something to do with it 2. We had our inlaws down for a couple days and sometimes u just go with the flow if you know what I mean.
I'm not on chemo, but in my ninth month of Orgovyx and following 44 weekday radiation treatments, I have been experiencing 3-6 (loose/watery) bowel movements daily. My radiation oncologist does not identify a cause since treatments have ended, but he says that Imodium is harmless, so I'm taking 2-3 doses of two tablets each and am finding some control. I'm hoping this is temporary. Wishing you well!
Well haven't had a solid bowel movement since chemo. On the other hand I haven't been constipated either so it's a toss up.
How are the radiation treatments? My oncologist mentioned that for me down the road.
I had 44 "lite" treatments for nine weeks, M-F. I had to have a full bladder at the time of treatment, which sometimes required using an incontinence clamp to prevent urinating prematurely. My PSMA PET scan revealed cancer in the two iliac lymph nodes either side of the rectum, so I had 26 treatments on the pelvis generally and 18 on just the prostate. I did not have surgery. At this level, the radiation treatments really had no physical effect other than diarrhea and a bit of a "tan" on the pelvic area. Nothing severe. Some patients have five concentrated treatments using much higher dosing.
