That decision has to be based on a lot of information. If someone has a very high Gleason score Stopping ADT too soon can lead to reoccurrences too soon. If someone is able to go for nine months to a year undetectable, it could be worth stopping ADT to see what happens. I would definitely want to have a doctor to discuss that option with the person asking to stop.
I’ve been on ADT for nine years because my cancer keeps coming back without it. I also need a second drug which is now Darolutamide. When I was on Zytiga I tried dropping from four pills to three pills To see if it would help with brain fog. In 18 days, my PSA went from .2 to 1. Definitely went right back on four pills.
That’s the type of thing one has to worry about. Prostate cancer can rapidly increase, Will it do that to you? No way of knowing.
