No it is not. I've been on that diet. I was placed on that diet by a gastroenterologist that did not have a clue about SIBO. The issue has absolutely nothing to do with FODMAP.

It works very well if the diet is used rigorously. I went to a SIBO specialist dietician, referred my my consultant. She told me that most people who say it doesn’t work have found it too difficult to stick to it. I understand that, especially if the patient has a family to cook for, too. You have to be patient and determined not to stray. It takes about three months for real, long term results to appear. Sorry you didn’t have a good experience with it, but I would say find the right dietitian and really go for it.Don’t give up. That’s what the damn bacteria want you to do 😢 I know I’ll have to be on it for good - not ideal, but I feel much better.
