Anyone had esophagus dilation?

I had an esophagus dilation on Thursday, how long until you heal able to return to normal diet. Still feeling soar in that area and getting frustrated since the GI Doctor said I should return to normal diet within 24 hours. I just don’t see how.

Thank you for your response. If you don’t mind me asking, what was your regular diet after 24 hours consist of.

I ate scrambled eggs and hash browns, sandwiches, chicken nuggets and baked fish. I stayed away from salads and very crunchy foods for about 3-4 days.

If I missed an update, I apologize. I do hope the soarness went away soon after your original post. I've never had that procedure but briefly worked in the dept that performed them. Never heard that it took more than a day or two to resolve. Hoping all is well now.

Hi there,
Thank you for asking. Very thoughtful. Well seems the “soarness” or slight swelling in the neck area may be stemming from something else. But able to return to eating but grazing cautiously with crusty food. I’m sure it will be ok but it’s just me being a bit careful.
