Low white blood cell count

Hi, it is common for white blood cell count to go down. It did happen to me once. How many chemotherapy treatments have you or they had. Also I had a shot of Dexamethasone to release white blood cells from my bone marrow. That raised my white blood cell count so I could continue my treatments. Hope this helps wishing you the best!! Most chemo regimens, particularly those that contain oxaliplatin exert a marrow suppression effect which inhibits the production of white blood cells. They may induce marked reductions in your neutrophil counts (neutropenia) which renders the patient more susceptible to infections (viral, bacterial, fungal). Many physicians will order injections of colony stimulation factors such as filogastrin to stimulate your bone marrow's production of neutrophils and other white blood cells.
You may also chemo experience chemo related abemia, which is characterized by a reduction in your red blood cell numbers and hemoglobin. This may be addressed by transfusion of whole blood units in severe cases, infusion of iron supplements (ferlicit) or in rare cases they may administer erythopoietin (EPO) drugs to stimulate the increased red blood cell production.

My doctor just told me today my white blood count is low, I go Thursday for more blood work. I’ve been feeling very tired, crankier sores in my mouth and diarrhea off and on. I’m scared and really don’t have any no to talk too. Can someone please tell me something about low white blood cells.
I don’t have no knowledge of it except what I read on google. TIA

@viviann80 I’m not doctor. But came to believe a high white count means your body is trying to fight off something like. Infection, inflammation or resonding to an issue like dehydration or stress. So see doctor to help her/him find out what is causing the high WBC. If cause is treated successfully, look for drop in WBC, with battle can lead to fatigue. Please see physician.
