Do yu mind sharing your age? As I am making up my mind on what to choose and fight for, I want to ensure that my age is appropriate for whatever I choose. I'm 75.

Thanks, worried1111.

I am now 60. Removing them both is the best thing I ever did and having a double reconstruction was a bonus! The chances of local recurrence drop from 17-20 per cent to 5 per cent. So I don’t have to worry about that as much and can skip mammograms and have MRIs for surveillance under the implants. With a double mastectomy the breasts are symmetrical (plastic surgeons find this very appealing). Having the reconstruction was a quality of life issue for me. And I feel and look great. I would consider the state of my health in the decision not age — only if are healthy enough to do it. Don’t skip it because of your age.I am so glad I did it - not seeing the lop-sided caved in chest of the single mastectomy daily has taken away a lot of the trauma. Good luck with your decision!
