For those of us without family - Who will take care of you ?
As I age, not having children or close family, I’m beginning to ask myself who will see to my care, when I can no longer take care of myself. And, who should I name in my Will to be executor….. I don’t want to burden friends, as I have a complicated estate. And friends my age have their own challenges..
I’m fortunate to have financial resources, but no children or close family. I’d like to get things in order while I’m still healthy. May I have your ideas?

I live in a small section of town that is one square mile. It is changing and becoming an area for young families. I am probably the eldest in my section of the neighborhood. This to me is a good thing in that I am getting to know several of the families and they know me. I am often asked if I need help. So far that has not been needed. If I ever need help I know they would be willing to help me.
I also have had help with the yard for several years now. Just this month I have had great help with the house which is a big help. Both are individuals I know I could count on if needed.
I liked the article and am slowly trying to do what has been suggested with living alone in my home. I do know it will be nearly a constant task because things do change for all of us.
Sure like the sounds of that multi-generational community.!

My EP says PACs are harmless. My zios report indicated I had many. EP said “ not to worry, very common”.
My friend who was having arterial fibrillation recently had a successful heart ablation. She’s hoping to be able to reduce heart rx. She’s a widow and has a circle of friends—me, people she worked with, people in her community and church friends.
Thanks for the positive vibes and feedback… sometimes Mine are PVCS and some are PACS…🙏pvctom
I heard yesterday that soon HB’s could live to 117 yo. Several people in the group said they wouldn’t want to live that long.
I think as Americans so much has changed that as a whole we don’t consider the customs of other nationalities.
Italians, for instance ( mostly those in the old country ) take care of their seniors. It’s expected and honorable. Think about that compared to our country. I can’t imagine any of the newest generations even understanding why taking care of their family members would be considered “ an honor “
A friend of mine mentioned a term that I had never heard of before: “ Intentional Community “ I found a list of Intentional community’s on line and picked on not so far from where I was living at the time and called to ask some questions and to ask if I could visit. The women who answered filled me in about the process of starting one. At some point she asked me why I picked them and I mentioned that they were only an hour from where I lived and was hoping to visit. She chuckled some then told me that this was a community of Lesbians who formed the group with the intention of being there for each other as they grew older and at that time had often been shunned by their family.
It’s interesting that as a group they realized that they wanted to be cared for by people who, like them didn’t have family that they could count on.
Also turns out that they purchased two old house in a run down part of the city. But the news spread fast and now they’ve purchased two whole blocks of houses and those who could beautified the area which the town loved and a higher class of people started buying up houses so that part of town is now desirable.
Just a story about possibilities.
These communities are now all over the planet. You can find lists of them on line. They’re all different except a majority of them lean towards sustainable living.
Hope this helps!
Wonderful story about that community. Thanks
