Started out on Neurontin and was put on the generic, Gabapentin. I'm at 3600 mg a day for 22 years. Two of my siblings were put on Lyrica and one complained of swollen feet. Don't know what else they experienced.
I was diagnosed with small fiber neuropathy back in 2008. I started taking gabapentin in increasing doses not long after. At one point, after maybe 5 years I didn’t think it was working as well as it had at first so my neurologist suggested that I taper down the gabapentin and try Lyrica. I took one pill at bedtime and woke up a couple of hours later feeling like I wanted to jump out of my skin. I don’t know any other way to describe it, just a very anxious and agitated feeling. I decided that was the only pill I was going to take! I went back to gabapentin and have stayed on it since then. There have been other episodes where I didn’t feel that it was working as well so I gradually decrease the dosage and let my body get used to a lower dosage before I take increasing amounts.
I generally take 2400-3000mg per day, 600am, 600 noon, 600 dinner and 1200 bedtime. That’s the maximum dose I take.
I am so happy that gabapentin works for me, it has allowed me to walk whereas my feet, legs, hands and arms hurt so much without it that I couldn’t tolerate the sheets touching me at night.
Every person’s body is different and many have had success with lyrica. In my case it just didn’t work out.

My husband has been on it for one week. It has relieved his pain but neuropathy still present. No side effects
I take Lyrica at night before bed for neuropathy in my feet. It works and I sleep so much better.

Thank you for your input. Appreciate it.
I’ve been on Lyrica for years. It works very well for me!
Some people don’t like it , but i love it.
I got my life back ( mostly.)
Thank you for your reply. The lyrica seems to be doing its job controlling the pain. No side effects yet but he is increasing it every week.
It helps a lot better than gabapentin fo me.
Works GREAT for me aside from the ED. GabaPentin also caused ED, but didn't do squat for my diabetic neuropathy.
