Hello @peterauen, welcome to Connect. Thank you for posing the question regarding stem cell treatments and shoulders. We have active discussions taking place on Connect regarding stem cells treatments for knees and hips, but this brings up a great point.

Mayo Clinic hosted an hour long webinar all about stem cells. A Mayo Clinic member posted a question about that shoulders:

"Will this work for shoulders?"

Answer: "Yes, we currently perform treatments on the shoulder. If you would like to seek consultation at Mayo Clinic, call 612-313-0520 for our Minneapolis location or 507-266-9100 for our Rochester location. You can also visit our Regenerative Medicine Consult Service page for more information: http://mayocl.in/1Ag7duN."

@peterauen, is this the information you were looking for? Have you seen a physician regarding your rotator cuff and what information did they give you?

Hello Justin,Yes, the information you provided is what I am looking for.  I want to learn more about the stem cell treatments that the Mayo Clinic performs for shoulder injuries.I have seen an orthopedic surgeon in Arizona for a rotator cuff tear.  I winter in Arizona and spend my summers in Minnesota.  The surgeon told me I have a complete rotator cuff tear and indicated that a shoulder replacement would likely result in the best outcome.  I heard of a stem cell treatment for certain shoulder problems but I do not know if the treatment is used for rotator cuff tears.  That is what I want to learn more about.  I have Xrays and a MRI that was done recently.  I did look at part of the webinar, but I am specifically interested in treatments for the problem I have, a complete rotator cuff tear.  Any additional information you can provide would be most appreciated.Thank you,Pete Rauen

I am glad to hear that information helped you. I am not a medical professional and cannot offer medical advice, however, I would recommend using the information in my previous post to call and ask your questions. You can also use this link for information on a second opinion, http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63.

What is your success rate for rotator cuff treatment. I just found out I have a tear and just had an MRI. I hate the idea of surgery and being away from my activities for as long as it take to recover. Please contact me at my email address I used to register. Darsr

I had a PRP Injection yesterday... painful injection but no pain after. I will keep you posted on my progress and results.. keeping my arm quiet for 72 hours.

Hello Peter. What was your final decision? Did you have surgery or the stem cell therapy? I also have a completely torn rotator cuff. My Essentia Health surgeon in Duluth, MN offered a new option called Superior Capsular Reconstruction. Google it and see what you think, then please reply if you would. Nancy
