Started Repatha - Side Effects

I agree that the response of many doctors to intolerance is a big problem. I just had the conversation with my pian rehab doc this morning - it took 9 years, lots of tries at diet & exercise and several failed drugs and 5 practitioners (including 2 cardiologists) before I found one who didn't press to try "just one more statin". Fortunately, the Repatha the new doc prescribed works for me with minimal side effects that I have learned to manage. He did say he has a few other options if the side effects increase.
Since I had high LDL, coronary artery disease and a history of heart-related deaths in my family, I am trying to make this work. My LDL is down over 70%. If side effects worsen, we will do another scan of the arteries to see if the blockages have resolved and perhaps drop the med.

When you have tried statins too many times to count and then Repatha being terrible, too, you just get tired of harming your body. My side effects were so bad I was bed ridden. If heart disease kills me at least I could get out of bed, live a quality life and die happy rather than the torment of side effects. Chronic horrible pain. Maybe I will die sooner than if I took these drugs and got a low number. But, I will at least live until I die. The last two tries on Repatha took me months to recover. My body just couldn’t take more of that pain and long recovery period.

I am trying one of the new weight loss drugs now that is supposed to help heart disease. No side effects. Maybe this will be an answer.
