I’d like to meet others with ulcerative colitis
I have Ulcerative colitis and wondered if anyone here has it and have had experiences of thinking that you can get cancer with this. I am really scared but otherwise I feel fine today.

Hi, @ksnak - how did the doctor come to find you had ulcerative colitis? How did you feel about that diagnosis?
Lisa I had a colonoscopy and there was a lot of mucus and visible areas in the colon. They took biopsies from the left sigmoid, right sigmoid and cecum. I have an appointment to meet with him next month so will find out more.
I have diverticulitis and also ulcerative colitis.I am wondering what people take for the discomfort. My gastroenterologist has not given me anything for either condition.
Anybody out there suffering from Diverticulitis?
Hi, @cardigan - welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Having both ulcerative colitis and diverticulitis is quite a lot to deal with.
If you'd like to read through and participate in a discussion on diverticulitis, you might check out this discussion on Connect:

Though the discussion was originally started in 2016, posts have continued to be added to it, even this week.
When were you diagnosed with ulcerative colitis? What symptoms give you the most trouble?
I was diagnosed with the cholitis approx 5 years ago.My condition may be caused by diverticulitis as I have near constant left sided pain.
I have been advised by my gastro.that the mucous in my stomach is very scarce. He did a biopsy and I am awaiting the results.
@cardigan - what were your doctor's potential concerns related to the scarce mucus in your stomach?
When will your biopsy results be available?
He is awaiting results of biopsy and then he will write to me with hopefully a prescription for my inflamed stomach. He actually called to my bed too soon after I having the gastroscopy and I was not fully awake so could not take in what he said.He came around much too soon but that is what they do sometimes.I got a written report on leaving the endoscopy room which informed me that my stomack was fairly bald.
I do not know really as I was just out of the endoscopy theatre and was not fully awake when he visited but on reading up on it I think it can turn ulcerous and the inflamation can be uncomfortable. That is why I'd like to compare with somebody who has the same problem.
