How many have experienced IT pain following THR?

@valleygirl1955 Ouch! I can relate. At six weeks you have more or less started to resume your usual activities, but your body will still be healing for quite a while.

The IT band was probably under stress before your surgery due to altered gait and less mobility. Now you are challenging it with your new hip. The best thing I can suggest is to first make sure your hip is in position and healing property - may require a visit to the ortho, and perhaps an x-ray. Then ask for a physical therapy referral to specifically address the IT band - you cannot yet do the usual stretches, so the PT can work with you to find some gentle stretches and movements that give you relief. And ICE, Ice, ice is still your friend.

Have you talked to the doctor or PT specifically about this new pain?

Not yet, but as it is not easing even after ice and PT, I am going to call. Probably nothing other than added stress, but would rather know for sure. Thank you
