My symptoms are exactly what anterior impingement of the foot. My orthopedic doctor felt it may be a nerve impingement as well, but didn’t label it. I have small fiber neuropathy in my left leg diagnosed by skin biopsies. My neuropathy and leg weakness and numbness along with the paresthesia in the front of my thigh are due to the lumbar stenosis in my spine. All nerve related . I’ll be following up with my orthopedist soon who may order an MRI and possible referral to foot surgeon .
I also have pn and lumbar stenosis. I have been experiencing severe ankle pain in the front of my left ankle. Feels like I am being stabbed when my ankle moves upward and feels like the tendons want to lock in place but I know it is actually nerve pain.
I have been to my neurologist, a podiatrist, orthopedic back surgeon, and an orthopedic foot doctor in search of a diagnosis/treatment with no luck.
I have no injury to my ankle.
I am starting at square one again.
I got my doctor's to come up with a more coordinated plan to try to diagnose my problem.
I will be getting a lumbar cortisone spine injection in two weeks to try to relieve my sciatic nerve pain and to see if it may also relieve the pain in my ankle.
If this does not help my ankle pain I will go back to my foot orthopedic doctor for an mri of my ankle to see if there is an impingement or tendinitis.
if all those possibilities are ruled out then they would suspect that my ankle pain was being caused by my neurapthy.
Then, they would try to find the appropriate treatment for the pain.
At this rate I might find relief next year. 😅. But, I am not going to let the doctors keep brushing me off to the next doctor without doing their due diligence.
I hope you are able to find the cause of your ankle pain so you too may find relief!
@chuva7025 ,
My goodness you really have been through it. I’m glad you did find some relief. I will continue to try to find help.
I am in NC. Wish I could see your doctor. I’ve been to Miami several times and always enjoyed it.
