I want to give an update about lithium orotate after my husband an I visited with his neurologist today. He agreed that taking the 5 mg OTC capsule was worth a try for his memory loss. The doctor also said the lithium might help with my husband's mood swings, which have gotten more pronounced lately. The local Walgreen's doesn't carry lithium orotate, but I was able to order it online from Walmart.

Coincidentally, while a lumbar puncture, MRIs and blood tests have all indicated my husband's dementia is due to Alzheimer's, a recent PET scan didn't indicate that. The neurologist pointed out that a previous assessment by a neuropsychologist found that my husband had mild cognitive impairment that could be frontotemporal dementia (FTD) slightly atypical for Alzheimer's disease. Therefore, the neurologist is now diagnosing my husband with mixed dementia, with both FTD and Alzheimer's.

That's very positive for me. I plan to start Lithium Orotate as soon as i complete weaning off Sertraline. I was on a low dose so it wont take long.

I hope you can keep us posted - and I will do the same.
