My PCP agreed to prescribe it. He said he has a few others on it but didn't say what for. He told me to take the 50mg pills and cut them in 4ths or smaller if I could. Compounding pharmacies are few and far between in the rural cornbelt. I just started taking 3 days ago and I understand it can take a month to realize any benefit. He kept repeating that he was prescribing them off-label and did I understand that? He also put that in the notes on My Chart. After reading some of these posts, I'm wondering if it is safe.

An acquaintance has recently been prescribed the 50mg dose for reducing alcohol cravings. I can tolerate quite a few meds so now I need to find a doc who will prescribe a 3mg Rx. So far 2 have declined and 2 have yet to respond to my inquiry about a prescription.

Just know when pills are not scored the doses may not be distributed equally throughout the pill. When pills are scored then the pieces have equal doses. One of my pet peeves being told to split or cut a pill that isn’t scored.

@bunstuffer I hate to go against your drs order but please listen to why making your own from a 50 mg tablet is a bad idea. The question was posed to two pharmacists who work with the LDN Research Trust.

Most compound pharmacies in the US will mail LDN. They just need a prescription sent. Mine is mailed to me.

The Research Trust website has a list of pharmacies so it shouldn’t be too hard to find one that will send it to you. They also have printouts you can download for your doctor with prescribing information.
Best wishes!
