Since I am living independently in my own home, I do not need assisted living. However, I did look at a couple of facilities that offered independent living. The people I spoke to were very nice. But the apartments were so tiny. I would not only not fit my bed in there, I would hardly be able to take anything of my own. Additionally the rent they wanted was more than my monthly income and when I asked they told me it would go up every year. As I am doing fine on my own, I saw no reason to make any kind of move. Yesterday was bad because it was the fourth anniversary of my husband's death. But today is another day and so I go on.

I am soo sorry to hear about your husband..I understand I lost my husband 14 years ago to cancer..and the one before that to a heart attack.. I also understand about downsizing..my Mother did not like paying for the place monthy since their 6000 sq foot home was paid in cash 25 years ago.. her dream home.. aging is so difficult.. myself, I have been virtually incapacitated for about 4 years.. (bad doctors..can't find one out here..) and so I go on.. wasn't so bad until I got so sick.. but standing on the stripes of Jesus for healing!! And praise the Lord you are still able to live independently!! (My mother wanted me to move.. and I told her I would just drop dead in the yard..or house.. no t leaving.. husband died here in living room I can too..too sick to move).. but despite it all God has a good plan for our lives and we will all be together in Heaven one day!! Be blessed sweet dear lady!! Hugs to you!!
