Any recommendations for a Multivitamin with low or no B6?

Posted by sunnyflower @sunnyflower, Nov 25, 2020

Hello. My latest two vitamin B6 lab results (24 hours without my supplement) showed my B6 is abnormally high; double what it should be! I didn't realize I've been taking 50mg. in my Max Potency Multivitamin/Mineral supplement. I need to find an equivalent WITHOUT so much B6 in it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have a lot of disease in my body besides Neuropathy so need a very good all-around multi-vitamin/mineral supplement b/c I don't eat very much. Thank you so much! Sunnyflower

Hi, can anyone recommend a neurologist at Mayo who is familiar with B6 toxicity? I have high B6 and unable to find a provider who can help me.

My doctor did not tell me to stop taking my usual multivitamin, or I didn't pay attention. The B6 level came out very high, and I thought that I found the problem. Easy fix, right? Nope. I stopped taking it for a few days and did another blood test. Normal.

I have read a ton of info on this site about B 6 Pros cons and learned of the difference. Thank you for the education.
My multi vitamin has a ton of b6. I have used Shaklee for about 25 years Recently changed to Pure. Then I see its in my D+k 🤷🏼‍♀️

I am looking for a multi without any b6
I googled it 😖 first answer was the one I take
Any suggestions of a brand?

Some time ago, I came across information about the latent toxicity of B6 in connection with neuropathy. I don't remember where it was, but it was a serious study from medical reports. I am sending a link to a similar one, which is worth reading. There is no smoke without fire.

Besides, multivitamins are convenient, but often one comes at the expense of another's effectiveness. I prefer separate ones and the own body's control over each.
Best regards Peter

Thank you Peter. Armchair dr here. Scratching in places my real Drs might have not.
I have added the, new to me, study you included.
Supposively, I eat a very nutritious diet. Considered not so by some. This I know, my choice to eliminate almost all carbs in my life— has made a difference in the neuropathy.
Wishing you the best

I have found exactly one multivitamin without B6, and would love to learn of others. It's Desert Harvest: https://desertharvest.com/products/multi-vitamin-low-acid-90-capsules. (Although you can find it on Amazon, it comes with a high delivery cost.) I've been taking it for a while, and will see what my next round of blood test shows. I have not found an objective, independent review of the product, nor any evidence one way or another that what's in the bottle is what's on the label, which is, of course, true of almost all supplements. Not a fan of anything that combines calcium and iron, since doing this lessens their absorption, but since I take those supplements independently, it doesn't matter to me. Be aware that whatever capsule material they use occasionally tears in the bottle -- usually only one or two capsules, but it does mean that it's worth looking closely for the torn capsules to discard them.

Although B6 is important, I prefer separate supplements to multivitamins, mainly because there are no high-quality complexes available.
Even iHerb.com, which has perhaps the widest range, does not offer any such products. Amazon is not a reference for me, as my experience with it has been below average. This is my personal opinion.

Our conversation motivated me to get in touch with the Desert Harvest people (my prior post), and they promptly responded:

"Thank you for your inquiry regarding third-party testing for our Multi-Vitamin without B6.

We do conduct third-party testing with every new batch we order. This testing may occur once a year or multiple times per year, depending on how frequently new batches are produced.

Our testing includes:

Physical Characteristics:

Average capsule weight
Capsule size and disintegration
Capsule color and type
Blend color

Microbiological Contaminants:

Total aerobic plate count
Total yeast and mold
Enterobacteriaceae
Salmonella spp.
E. coli
Staphylococcus aureus
Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Heavy Metals:

Mercury
Lead
Arsenic
Cadmium

We also verify that the active ingredient quantities match the label claims, ensuring you get the correct amount per serving.

I do apologize that you have received bottles with broken capsules. This is usually due to rough shipping and handling. We do have quality control that checks to make sure none of the capsules are broken before they are bottled. If you have any further questions or would like copies of test results, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help!"

I am confused about Vitamin B. My doctor told me to take a B complex and that would help with neuropathy. It seems there are different opinions on this.?

I take B6T smart, a B-complex. T stands for toxicity. It has 50% DV of B’s minus B6. They also have the multi vitamin that I believe has 25% DV. I found it through FB group called Understanding B6 Toxicity using Western Research. Hope this helps.
