I am considering a rt shoulder replacement. The doc suggested I had an option of a reverse shoulder replacement but those ALL restrict ability to reach around the back of your waist and zip a dress or hook my bra. That is the reason I am getting a shoulder replacement in the first place, so a reverse one, no thanks. 🙂‍↔️
I want full range of motion which a total replacement allows; not what I already am restricted to before surgery...

While in theory, a regular TSR should allow a fuller range of movement due to the frontal rotator cuff muscles being retained, any time you have surgery, you run the risk of scar tissue or tendons not being able to return to an ideal state. Even with a regular TSR, there is no guarantee that you'll be able to have the same reach you once had. Most people have TSR's and reverses because of debilitating arthritic pain as well severely restricted reach to the front and up. I would not risk any surgery if my only problem was diminished backwards reach.

I have had a total reverse arthroscopy of my left shoulder, it was absolutely not a choice, I think that saying it is, is not truthful. It is a reverse because it can’t be done any other way due to loss of the joint.

I had a right RSR in Sept. 2023, and after all kinds of injections still have pain with movements and weakness. I cannot sleep on my stomach either. I am petite in stature which doesn’t help. I am still praying for healing!! Good luck to you!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
