Oh no! No poster child? for me! I was so against Fosamax when it was suggested to me, that I blankly refused. The America FDA changed the recommended time limit for use from 10 years+ to 5 years maximum I believe, as the ‘maker’ Mercs? had so many lawsuits regarding side effects, especially ONJ. This was about 2012-2015 after recovering from chemotherapy and I’d read about ONJ, when the jaw collapses… so I was so against it. However, I ended up, quite fast, with a crooked spine and very bad Dexa scan result. So,
at the end, a bit too late,
I started Fosamax and as I’ve said my Dexa scan is good. I won’t do the 5 years though, 3 years are enough, especially because of my age, 77.
Thinking about it now…
I do have terrible back pain due to my crooked back. Don’t say it’s because of Fosamax? I do take 10 mg of m-Eslon SR
daily (morphine sulfate) twice daily.
Can’t remember I had problems when I started though.
Maybe I’ll stop taking it right now to find out if my pain disappears in a couple of months……???

You are such a positive person to deal with the conditions you suffer with. I wish you all the luck in the world that your meds and intense research will keep you making good decisions regarding your health. I am now on a research mission on fighting muscle mass loss. I can't walk in a straight line without weaving from side to side.....like I don't have control of my leg movements anymore. I walk every day between 10,000 and 15,000 steps. It is not easy sometimes. I do 3 lb weight lifting which has made my arms feel a little stronger, I am striving to eat more protein each day for the muscles. Seems like every day has a new challenge! Thanks for listening.
