Well actually, my introduction to diabetes had some similarities! It looks in retrospect like all of a sudden I had sky-high insulin resistance, but in my case my blood glucose went sky-high, too, and I went into ketoacidosis.

That led to a trip to the ER and a weekend in the hospital for observation, a month on insulin, a month on Jardiance, and since then - a little metformin, exercise, and watching my diet, A1C mostly below 5.7.

I asked the doctors, "So what WAS that?" and all they can do is shrug.

Yes. Exactly. That’s why I call it a signaling problem. Most times it works. On rare occasion it doesn’t.
